Explore the freshwaters of lakes Somerset, Wivenhoe and Atkinson for a fun day out on the water.
Experience fishing paradise at Lakes Somerset and Wivenhoe. The lakes are stocked with Australian Bass, Yellowbelly, Silver Perch, Mary River Cod and Saratoga, just to name a few. Before heading out to the lake, don’t forget to purchase your Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS) fishing permit. Permits are available online.
Lake Somerset is a water sport haven, with motorised and non-motorised watercraft allowed on the lake. Water skiing, jet skiing, wakeboarding and tubing are all permitted on Lake Somerset.
If a relaxed freshwater experience is more your style, Lake Wivenhoe allows non-motorised watercraft and restricted motorised vessels on the lake with a maximum speed of six knots. Don’t have a canoe? Don’t worry. One Tree Canoe Company at Vernor can hook you up with all your canoeing needs.
Take a dip in the cool freshwaters of the lakes in the designated swimming areas located at each lake. Make a day of it and pack a picnic or utilise the barbecue facilities at the many day use areas around the lakes.
All dams are managed by Seqwater.
