Now that’s Basstastic!

10/10/2018 Written by itstheadmin
You might have heard about the two amazing lakes in Somerset…

Yes, we’re talking about Lake Wivenhoe and Lake Somerset. Both lakes provide fantastic locations for camping and spending a day out on the water.

But have you heard how fantastic the fishing is?

Did you know an Australia Bass, weighing 4.455 kilograms, measuring 59cm to tip length was caught at a Basstastic fishing tournament at Lake Somerset in August? We’re not kidding! Danial McKoy (pictured) caught the whopper and it’s currently pending IGFA approval for the Australian Bass world record.

That’s not all! Over 160 fish were caught at the Reel Wivenhoe Classic fishing tournament held at Lake Wivenhoe in August. Jai Gilmore from team Tangle Foot caught a cracking bass measuring 55cm.

WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING YOUR NEXT FISHING TRIP?

Be prepared! Make sure you have a fishing permit. You can purchase one here.
