Experience Somerset’s Toogoolawah Pictures

05/02/2018 Written by itstheadmin
Step back in time and experience an old style country movie theatre experience in the heart of Toogoolawah.

The iconic movie theatre has been playing films since the 1920s in Alexandra Hall in Toogoolawah.

Now known affectionately as the Toogoolawah Pictures, you can be rest assured a visit will result in more than you bargained for.

A visit offers a real country picture theatre experience, with canvas sling back seats. The pictures are operated by a group of friendly, hardworking volunteers. Volunteers operate an affordable snack bar that serves fresh popcorn, hot dogs and other delicious snacks. In 2014 the committee entered a new phase with the introduction of 2D Digital Cinema Projection and surround sound. Up until then they were using 35mm projection equipment and carbon arc lighting – probably the last burners to be used in Australia, so the theatre is more than a little unique.

A visit to Toogoolawah Pictures is so affordable and it won’t disappoint. Prices are $6 per child, $8 per adult and a family (two adults and up to six children) is $25. The pictures operate on most Saturdays and some Friday evenings.

So, why not head over to the Toogoolawah Pictures Facebook page and check out what is next on?
