CARAVANNING AND CAMPING
There are few pleasures greater than caravanning and camping in Somerset.
Somerset has long been a favourite for those who enjoy star lit nights and the connection to nature that only comes from escaping the city. Summer blesses the region with balmy nights, shady campsites and perfect weather for lakeside camping where you can enjoy boating and fishing in the cool fresh water of our lakes.
Winter invites crackling fires and cosy nights served with glorious days of winter sunshine. Mist in the valleys, a sparkling frost, the chance sighting of wildlife and spectacular sunrises are delights to capture and remember.
The country towns and villages are RV friendly and you will find all the facilities you could need or want on your journey through the region.
Lakes Wivenhoe, Somerset and Atkinson offer lakeside camping with excellent facilities and direct access to water, while Neurum Creek, Sandy Creek and Jimna offer excellent bush camping with access to rivers, wilderness and National Parks.

RV FRIENDLY
All Somerset towns welcome RV visitors and generally provide wide streets, easy traffic, free parking and shady parks to stop and refresh. Twenty-hour rest areas are located across Somerset and are conveniently located close to most towns. There are also four dump points in Somerset.
Kilcoy, Fernvale and Lowood have been accredited by the CMCA as RV Friendly Towns and offer a number of facilities to make stop-overs more enjoyable.
RV FRIENDLY TOWNS
Fernvale
The car park of the Fernvale Futures Complex has a dedicated RV and caravan parking area (78.1m in length and 4.1m wide). There are two entrances (northern and southern) to the car park and one exit (northern only). Large rigs (who require 35m for turn around) should enter by the southern entrance and exit by the northern entrance which means they will not need to turn around.
As the carpark is directly in front of the Fernvale Futures Complex which houses the Visitor Information Centre, the area is well sign posted along the Brisbane Valley Highway in both southerly and northerly directions. Overnight parking is available at Geoffrey Fisher Bridge, Brisbane Valley Highway.
Kilcoy
Parking is available along Hope Street adjacent to the new Kilcoy Information Centre and the picturesque Yowie Park. There are no parking meters in Kilcoy and you will find ample parking spaces for small vehicles.
Overnight parking is available at Anzac Park and Seib Street. Long term parking (up to seven nights) is available at the Kilcoy Showgrounds for a small fee.
Lowood
Parking is available at Clock Park and along Main Street, north of the supermarket which is convenient to the shopping precinct and other useful services. There are no parking meters in Lowood and you will find ample parking spaces for small vehicles.
