Just in case you needed another reason to experience Somerset’s Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Somerset Regional Council won an engineering excellence award for the newest section of the trail on Thursday, 11 October 2018. This award recognises Council’s achievements and its collaboration with various stakeholders including all tiers of government to complete the project, which saw the newest section between Toogoolawah and Moore open to the public earlier this year.
The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is now Australia’s longest recreational rail trail at 161km long, which follows the disused Brisbane Valley Railway line. The trail is open to walkers, mountain bikers, horse riders and is dog friendly.
For more information about the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail or to pick up a map, drop into one of Somerset’s visitor information centres at Esk, Fernvale, Kilcoy or Toogoolawah.
