AUSTRALIAN TOURISM DATA WAREHOUSE
Have you registered for an ATDW account yet?
ATDW is Australia’s largest tourism network which is jointly owned and managed by all Australian state and territory government tourism bodies. As Somerset Regional Council is part of the Brisbane regional tourism organisation, tourism operators within the region could have an annual listing to promote your business for as little as $150.
From Friday, 1 June 2018 the Visit Brisbane and Queensland websites will only use content listed on ATDW. They will not be creating additional listings for tourism operators who do not have an ATDW listing.
Council manages Somerset’s ATDW account in which we promote the natural attractions, parks, towns, journeys and events on the ATDW network. We currently have 28 listings promoting the region.
Did you know that ATDW even provides you with statistics as to how many people view the content from your listing? Below are the statistics from the Esk ATDW listing for a one month period. This makes your record keeping easier and provides data for the future.

In previous newsletters we have discussed the need for social media in the tourism industry, but what exactly is social media?
Social media is an activity that uses technology for social interaction through the use of photographs, video, audio and written content. It is a way to communicate that allows everybody to participate through social networking websites and apps.
It looks like social media is here to stay, which means there is no avoiding it. There are a number of different social media platforms to choose from and no one expects you to be on every single one. You will need conduct some research to find the perfect social media platforms for your business, this could be as simple as asking your visitors what they use, sending guest surveys after their stay or check out your competition to see what platforms they are using and how successful they are.

Trip Advisor is one of the world’s largest travel sites with more than 670 million reviews. It allows visitors to read and leave reviews and images online.
