Today’s travellers are heading online to research, book and review their travel experiences. As tourism operators it’s essential to keep your content and images interesting and up to date.
This is not just a passing fad, where we can bury our heads in the sand and hope it blows over, we have to move with the times and enhance our digital profiles.
One way to do this is through the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) which is Australia’s largest tourism network and is jointly owned and managed by all Australian state and territory government tourism bodies. ATDW collects, stores and distributes data in the form of product and destination information with more than 40,000 listings across Australia. This data is compiled in a nationally agreed format and is electronically accessible by tourism business owners (operators), wholesalers, retailers and distributors for use in their websites and booking systems.
Our state tourism organisation, Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) works with ATDW and includes Queensland tourism operators with an ATDW listing on their website www.queensland.com along with TEQ apps for mobile devices including the This is Queensland app allowing visitors easy access to your business. Somerset is part of the Brisbane regional tourism organisation (RTO) managed by Brisbane Marketing which also showcases tourism operators listed on ATDW.
Having an ATDW account means that you are able to update your content and images as regularly as you like and don’t have to rely on somebody else to update this information for you. Once your information has been updated it can be available through 200 distribution channels. When you have an ATDW listing you will also be eligible for TEQ’s best of Queensland experience program which will showcase tourism operators throughout the state.
Council already has several free Somerset attractions listed on ATDW which are showcased on Visit Brisbane’s website.
As Somerset is part of the Brisbane RTO an annual listing could be as little as $150 with events being listed for free. For more information or to register your tourism business on ATDW click here.
Did you know fact – 52% of travellers were so influenced by social media that they changed their travel plans.
